Posa Xrosto

A mobile-first PWA that splits restaurant bills fairly by calculating what each person owes based on which dishes they shared, with optional AI receipt scanning.

Posa Xrosto logo
Posa Xrosto (Greek for "How much do I owe?") is a Progressive Web App that solves the problem of splitting restaurant bills when the group shares dishes. Instead of dividing the total equally, which is unfair when someone had a steak and someone else had a salad, the app calculates each person's share from the items they actually shared. Users follow a step-by-step flow: set the number of people (2–20) and their names, add bill items (manually or by scanning a receipt with the camera), assign who shared each item, and get an instant per-person breakdown. Optional AI receipt scanning uses GPT-4o Vision to extract items and prices from a photo so there's no typing. Results can be shared via native sharing or clipboard, as a full breakdown or totals only. The app is mobile-first and installable as a PWA with offline support, so it works at the table. It's built with Next.js and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, uses Framer Motion for animations, and exposes an API route that calls OpenAI for receipt OCR. The goal was a clear, fair, self-serve bill split that avoids awkward math and keeps splitting fair for everyone.
